Sediment wasn’t just created, it really has been more of an evolution. I have pulled from all of my resources, everything I value in my life, the way I see my future, what is most important to me. By combining all of those elements together and seeing what settles on the bottom. It’s like the ‘tried and true’, the pieces from someone’s life that have managed to endure and sustain.

The pieces that are left - creativity, my desire to salvage and repurpose pieces to promote a circular economy. 

My creativity and media encompass my web design, photography, social media management, content creation, logos and branding. This is a world that I love being in - such a challenge to find the right profile, the right mood, the right designs for a company. With this part of my business, I am always trying to stay one step ahead - monitoring the trends, what's current, what's next....

Now with Sediment apparel that's my downtime - my day off! When I source a piece for my inventory I choose them for their integrity, their endurance, their ability to stand the test of time. This search for these hidden treasures is one of my most favourite parts of the job. I am not sure when it goes from a 'hobby' to an addiction' but I may have transferred over that line.

Seeking out the clothing for my 'preloved, gently worn' garments is my relaxation. This also includes the mending, refurbing, de-fuzzing, cleaning - whatever it takes to try and give the articles their new lease on life. Assisting me with that as there are only so many hours in the day is my Donation Drop and Consignment program. If you have that bag of garments ready I will gladly come and pick them up for you. I sort through the finds, repurposing what I can for my store, sending out usable fabrics to other businesses that I collaborate with who reuse the materials and donating any remaining items.

When getting my product out to you I do my best to use recycled and reusable materials for shipping and packaging before purchasing new ones. I believe in making environmentally conscientious choices wherever possible.

You need to be responsible in all facets of your life - and I really do feel that I am making a difference.
